# Medlane

> Medlane is an open-source (AGPL-3.0) hospital operating system run by AI agents, built for India. Staff ask in their own words — typed, tapped or spoken ("Book Ravi for Dr. Priya tomorrow 10 am", "Paracetamol 650 TDS 5 days", "next patient"); an agent drafts one confirmation card, a person approves it, and Medlane does the follow-up work: WhatsApp messages, tokens, pharmacy queues, reminders and bills. Free to self-host; managed cloud is priced per bed with unlimited users.

Key facts:
- Covers outpatients (OPD), wards (IPD), emergency, OT, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, billing, insurance, inventory, queues/tokens, team chat and apps for doctors, nurses, staff and patients.
- Languages: English, Tamil and Hindi (typing, optional voice, and patient messages).
- AI drafts; clinicians sign. Clinical safety checks (allergies, interactions, doses) are deterministic rules, never an LLM.
- Patient channels: two-way WhatsApp, a phone booking agent, and a patient app.
- Works offline via an on-site Edge Bridge (OPD, billing, pharmacy, printing keep running).
- Indian health rails: ABDM-ready (ABHA, M1–M3), NHCX insurance claims, PM-JAY / CMCHIS scheme support, DHIS incentive tracking. Built for DPDP. Designed to NABH HIS/EMR standards. Not certified yet.
- Pricing (indicative): self-host free; managed cloud about ₹3,600–4,800 per bed per year, unlimited users, no per-prescription or per-booking fees.
- Status: early development; pilot hospitals are being selected. No customer logos or testimonials are claimed.
