A Medlane visit

10:00 → 10:15

One patient’s visit, in their words. Each step shows the part of Medlane doing the work.

Day before1 / 8
  1. Day before

I booked on WhatsApp in under a minute.

    Behind it

    Front Desk agent

Books, confirms and reminds patients on WhatsApp or by phone, day and night.

  2. 9:52

They knew I’d arrived before I reached the counter.

    Behind it

    Arrival alerts

An “I’m here” tap tells the front desk who arrived, which doctor and which room.

  3. 10:00

I was seen at 10:00 sharp.

    Behind it

    On-time engine

Learns each doctor’s pace, spots delays early and tells patients before they leave home.

  4. 10:07

My prescription was on WhatsApp before I stood up.

    Behind it

    Scribe agent

Drafts the prescription from the consult. The doctor checks and signs; it goes to the pharmacy and the patient’s phone.

  5. 10:09

My scan was booked before I left the room.

    Behind it

    Next-step booking

The doctor’s orders turn into bookings, with preparation instructions sent to the patient.

  6. 10:11

They fitted an eye check in right before my scan.

    Behind it

    Visit bundling

Sees all your appointments across departments and fits them into one trip.

  7. 10:13

“We’ll call you after the doctor sees your report.”

    Behind it

    Closed-loop results

Every result goes to the doctor as a task. The hospital calls the patient. Nothing gets lost.

  8. 10:15

No paper. Not a single sheet.

    Behind it

    Paperless by default

Bills, reports and consent forms go to WhatsApp. Printers still work when you need them.

Old hospital software: 40 clicks. Medlane: 2 taps.

The same OPD visit — book, consult, prescribe, bill.

Everything connected.

Medlane works with the systems Indian hospitals already use. Tap any one to see what it does.

Patients share past records with one scan. New records link to their health ID — and earn you incentives.

Some connections are still being built — see the status on the IT page.

Built the careful way

  • ABDM-ready

Works with India’s national health ID and record sharing.

  • Built for DPDP

Patient consent, data rights and breach timers built in.

  • Designed to NABH HIS/EMR standards

Audit trails, signatures and safety checks everywhere.

  • AI drafts, doctors decide

AI never signs anything. Safety checks use fixed, tested rules.

We will only say “certified” once a certificate is issued.

Questions, answered

Is Medlane really free?

Yes. You can run it on your own servers for free, forever, under the AGPL open-source licence. You pay only if you want us to host and run it for you.

Does it work in Tamil and Hindi?

Yes. Staff can type or speak in Tamil, Hindi, English or a mix — voice is optional. Patients get messages in their own language.

Does the AI make medical decisions?

No. AI drafts notes and prescriptions, and a doctor always checks and signs them. Safety checks such as allergies and drug interactions use fixed, tested rules, not AI.

What happens if the internet goes down?

A small box in your hospital keeps outpatients, billing, pharmacy and printing running, and syncs everything when you are back online.

Can we take our data out?

Any time. Your data exports in open formats. There is no lock-in.

Is Medlane certified?

Not yet. Medlane is ABDM-ready, built for DPDP and designed to NABH HIS/EMR standards. We will say “certified” only once it is.
